The start of the women’s leg of the Patanjali Uttarakhand Premier League 2024 was dampened by inclement weather as rain washed out Match 1 between the Pithoragarh Hurricanes and the Nainital SG Pipers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on Wednesday, September 18.
Consistent rain right from the morning meant that the covers had to be put into place early, resulting in the toss being delayed. With the rain not relenting though, conditions just weren’t suitable enough for any kind of action to take place. As a result, the match officials were forced to call off the match without the toss taking place either.
The first match of the Women’s UPL 2024 was set to feature Neelam Bisht’s Hurricanes outfit against Ekta Bisht’s SG Pipers. Both teams will now share a point apiece instead, making their respective encounters against the Mussoorie Thunders all the more important as they look to book a spot in the summit clash.
Match 2 of the Women’s UPL 2024 will see the SG Pipers face the Thunders at 11.30 AM local time on Thursday, September 19.
