Uttarakhand Premier League reveals Teams and Prize Money for Season 2
~ Cricket Association of Uttarakhand announces the competing teams and attractive prize money pool as the state’s premier T20 competition gears up for its second season from 23rd September at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun ~
Dehradun (Uttarakhand), 12 September 2025:
The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) and organizers SSPARK Sports and Entertainment today revealed the participating teams and prize money for Season 2 of the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL), which will start from 23rd September at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Dehradun.
Building on the success of its inaugural edition, the UPL returns bigger and stronger this year with seven men's teams and four women's teams, representing the cricketing spirit of Uttarakhand. The first season saw five men's and three women's teams compete, with USN Indians (men's) and Mussoorie Thunders (women's) crowned as champions. The teams competing this season will be -

• Pithoragarh Hurricanes
• Rishikesh Falcons
• Tehri Titans
• USN Indians
Women's Teams:
• Haridwar Storm
• Mussoorie Thunders
• Pithoragarh Hurricanes
• Tehri Queens
Named after key districts and cities, these teams embody the diversity and passion of Uttarakhand, providing a professional platform for players from across the state to showcase their skills and push for higher honours.
To further incentivize performance, the UPL retains its attractive prize money pool of close to INR 50 lakhs, underlining its commitment to rewarding excellence on the field. The men's champions will take home INR 25 lakhs, and the women's champions will be awarded INR 7 lakhs. The runners-up will receive INR 12 lakhs (men's) and INR 3 lakhs (women's). Individual brilliance will be recognised with the Men's Player of the Series (INR 1 lakh) and Women's Player of the Series (INR 25,000). Every match will carry a Player of the Match award of INR 10,000, ensuring high-quality competition throughout.

The UPL Player Draft will take place on Saturday, where all seven men's and four women's teams will finalise their squads. Avneesh Sudha, Yuvraj Chaudhary, Jagadeesha Suchith, Prashant Chopra, Bhupen Lalwani, Kunal Chandela and Rajan Kumar are the Icon players in the men's competition while Mansi Joshi, Neelam Bhardwaj, Sweta Verma and Kanchan Parthar will be the four key Icon players in the women's category.
Teams will be spending heavily on their marquee signings, with INR1.5 lacs set as the fixed price for an Icon player. Once all teams have picked their Icon players, they will proceed to assemble a squad from a list of capped and uncapped players.
Season 1 Highlights:
• Yuvraj Chaudhary from USN Indians plummeted 322 runs, including a century, 27 sixes, and a blazing strike rate of 192.8. His excellent all-round performance led him to being picked up by Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 Auction
• Nandini Kashyap, the leading run-scorer for Mussoorie Thunders with 123 runs at a strike rate of 133.7, was picked by Delhi Capitals for the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025. She also earned her maiden India T20I call-up in late 2024
• Priyanshu Khanduri made 253 runs with a striking 25 fours and has been a prominent performer for Uttarakhand Premier League
• Avneesh Sudha who scored a scintillating 118* runs innings was registered for the IPL 2025 auction with a base price of 30 lakh INR
• Sanskar Rawat, who scored 191 runs with 13 sixes, was invited for trials by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025 season.
• Prashant Chauhan, leading wicket-taker with 8 wickets for USN Indians, has played domestic cricket and is gaining traction.
• Devendra Bora, who also took 8 wickets, has solid domestic performances though no IPL data available.
• Bhanu Pratap Singh, known for best bowling figures 4/17, has a strike rate of 125.4 in T20s and has online presence linked to IPL 2025 updates.
• Gunjan Bhandari also dominated the women's competition as she finished as the top wicket-taker with 5 wickets and best figures of 3/18.
With close to 30 matches lined up—including league stages, eliminators, and finals—fans can look forward to two weeks of exhilarating cricket action in Dehradun as UPL continues to strengthen its position in India's domestic cricket ecosystem.
