~The Nainital Tigers’ flawless run continues as they move to the top spot on the standings with eight points, inching closer to sealing a spot in the finals~
Dehradun, 1 October 2025: The Nainital Tigers extended their unbeaten streak with a fourth consecutive victory, moving a step closer to sealing a top-three finish following their 26-run win over Dehradun Warriors.
In the third game of triple-header Wednesday, the Dehradun Warriors elected to field first, a decision the Nainital Tigers countered emphatically by posting a formidable 203/7 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
The commanding score was anchored by a dominant innings from Shashwat Dangwal. He remained unbeaten on 82 off just 38, smashing four fours and seven sixes to dismantle the Warriors' bowling attack. Dangwal was ably supported by skipper Bhupen Lalwani, whose rapid 37 off 21 ensured the Tigers maintained a high run rate through the middle overs.
The Tigers' approach, which blended aggression and control, saw them recover skillfully after losing a few early wickets. They maintained a healthy run rate mid-innings before unleashing a decisive flurry of boundaries in the latter overs to vault past the 200-run mark.
For the Warriors, the bowling attack struggled to stem the flow of runs during the onslaught. Naveen Kumar Singh claimed three wickets but at the cost of 57 runs while Harsh Rana, who returned 2/21 from his three overs, was the most economical of the lot.
Chasing a big target of 204, the Dehradun Warriors' chase began with early wickets, losing their openers Aadityaa Naithani and skipper Yuvraj Choudhary inside four overs.
Facing an uphill task, Sanskar Rawat set the tone with bold strokeplay, guiding his side to 56/2 by the close of the Powerplay. Shortly after, he raced to his fifty off just 23 balls. However, he was soon sent back to the pavilion after being run out for a 25-ball 52.
Two deliveries later, the Warriors' hopes took another hit with the fall of another wicket, Sagar Rawat for 9. The fall of wickets slowed down the inflow of runs; as the required run rate climbed, and the match increasingly appeared to be slipping into Nainital's favour.
Aanjaneya Suryavanshi fought valiantly with a blistering 51 off 26 balls, attempting to revive the chase, but his dismissal in the 18th over effectively sealed the Warriors' fate, as they finished on 177/9, falling short of the target.
The Player of the Award was given to Shashwat Dangwal for his all-round performance of 82 runs off just 38 deliveries with bat and 17 for 1 with the ball.
