September 30, Dehradun: The men's competition of the Uttarakhand Premier League continued into its fourth day at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium with non-stop drama as Dehradun Warriors and Nainital Tigers registered thrilling victories in the first two matches of the day.

Match 1: Dehradun Warriors vs Pithoragarh Hurricanes

In the morning clash, Dehradun Warriors captain Yuvraj Chaudhary delivered a masterclass in explosive batting, smashing an unbeaten 86 off just 41 balls to guide his team to a crushing 10-wicket victory over Pithoragarh Hurricanes in Match 9 of the UPL 2025.

After winning the toss and electing to field, the Warriors' bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance to restrict the Hurricanes to a modest 120/6.

Opting to field first, the Warriors deployed an effective pace-spin combination that consistently troubled the Hurricanes' middle order. While opener Piyush Joshi (24) provided early stability, the Hurricanes couldn't build any substantial partnerships. A late surge from No.7 batter Vaibhav Bhatt, who top-scored with an unbeaten 36 off 19 balls helped them reach the 120 mark.

The Warriors' Rakshit Rohi was the standout bowler, delivering an economical spell of 2/14 that prevented any scoring momentum. Naveen Kumar Singh and Mayank Mishra shared four wickets between them, maintaining steady pressure throughout the innings.

The chase proved to be a mere formality as Chaudhary unleashed his full repertoire of strokes from the outset. The skipper was in devastating form, smashing four boundaries and nine towering sixes at a phenomenal strike rate of 209.76. He found able support in Sanskar Rawat, who contributed a solid 25* off 18 balls with four boundaries.

The Hurricanes' bowling attack had no answers to Chaudhary's onslaught as the Warriors raced to 122 without loss in just 9.5 overs.

Yuvraj Chaudhary was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match winning knock of 86 runs in just 41 balls

Match 2: Nainital Tigers vs Tehri Titans

In the afternoon fixture, the Nainital Tigers secured a 26-run victory (DLS) over Tehri Titans in a rain-affected encounter. The bad weather conditions hampered Tehri Titans' pursuit, leaving them short of the revised DLS target of 80 in 10.5 overs.

After being put into bat, the Tigers posted 156/7 through steady contributions down the order, setting up a total that proved decisive when rain interrupted the chase.

Saurabh Rawat, who remained unbeaten on 40 from 37, was his side's top-scorer, while Dikshanshu Negi (33 off 23) and skipper Bhupen Lalwani (20 off 25) also made valuable contributions.

Tehri Titans' spearhead Aakash Madhwal stood out with impressive figures of 3 for 34, but despite his efforts, the opposition still managed to post a competitive total.

The Titans' chase got off to a shaky start as they slipped to 14/2 within the first four overs. Opener Ansh Tyagi tried to steady the innings but departed in the seventh over after making 16.

Aryan Sharma looked promising with a run-a-ball 23* and appeared to be leading the recovery, but the bad weather conditions cut short their fightback. At 53/3 in 10.5 overs, the Titans were left stranded, 27 runs short of the DLS par score of 80.

Nainital Tigers lead the points table with a perfect record of three wins from three matches (6 points), while Dehradun Warriors are fourth with two victories in three outings (4 points).

The Player of the Match award was given to Anmol Shah for this brilliant bowling spell (2-0-4-2)
