
Women's Uttarakhand Premier League: Haridwar Storm Outperform Thunders to Claim First Points

Dehradun, 24 September 2025: Batting first, the Mussoorie Thunders got off to a slow start, with opener Shagun Chaudhary scoring 8 runs off 22 balls before being dismissed in the fifth over. Haridwar’s Ritika Supyal, who finished with economical figures of 1 for 9, claimed the wicket. The innings’ key partnership came for the second wicket, as the other opener Reena Jindal and Kanchan Parihar added 31 runs before Parihar was dismissed for 17.
Jindal tried to anchor the innings, contributing a crucial 23 runs, including three boundaries. The run rate accelerated in the latter stages, with Neelam Bisht playing a quicker knock of 29 from 21, featuring four boundaries and a six.
However, with continuous wickets falling, Haridwar restricted Mussoorie for 100/9.
Ankita Shah, Haridwar’s off-spinner was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 4 for 21. While Divya Bohra starred three wickets in the final over, including the key dismissal of Neelam Bisht.
During the chase, Haridwar kept losing frequent wickets from the beginning. Siddhi Pandey struck early to dismiss Dipika Chand for just 5. Sweta Verma, the Storm captain took charge and started rebuilding the innings, but Jyoti Giri was dismissed for 17 and Ankita Shah followed soon for 8.
The run chase was further complicated by Kanchan Parihar, who ran out the Haridwar Storm captain for 21 off 25 balls, leaving the team at 72 for 4 in 12.2 overs. However, Kalpana Verma and Kanak Tapraniya steadied the innings, remaining unbeaten on 22 off 28 balls and 16 off 15 balls respectively, guiding Haridwar Storm to a six-wicket victory. The win earned them two points after their opening defeat to Tehri Queens.
Next up, Pithoragarh Hurricanes will take on Haridwar Storm on Thursday afternoon, both the teams playing to secure their position in the finals of the Women's Uttarakhand Premier League.
